The aim of this case study is to predict weather conditions in the Venice area ahead of a school trip in late October 2018. The purpose of this interactive exercise is to use and discuss a wide range of ECMWF products. These includes:
Model climatology
Seasonal forecasts (anomalies, verification)
Extended forecasts (anomalies, verification)
Medium-range forecasts (Ensemble mean and spread, cyclonic features, clusters, EFI and SOT)
Weather parameters (precipitation type, point rainfall, wind gusts and waves)
As the case study progresses you will be asked to provide an update of the forecast based on the recent model outputs. Typically : 3 months before, 1 month before, 2 weeks, 7 days, 3 days, 3, 2 and 1 day before
