A summary table with detailed descriptions of the GloFAS products available through the GloFAS-IS are given in the children pages.

The product tables are organised in like in the GloFAS-IS map viewer.

GloFAS has numerous products accessible through its map viewer in the form of maps, graphs, tables and additional information.

The map viewer is an intuitive interface where a number of different products, also called ‘layers’, can be displayed on their own or overlaid on top of each other. The layers are organised in seven categories, and each associated with a short description:

  • Initial conditions: shows information on the initial conditions of core variables preceding the forecast start time (3 days before the forecast)
  • Meteorological : summarising precipitation forecasts over the first 10-day period of the forecast horizon in GloFAS 30-day
  • Hydrological : summarising the latest GloFAS 30-day and GloFAS Seasonal forecasts
  • Flood risk : summarising the estimated flood extent and flood impact of GloFAS 30-day forecasts
  • Static: showing background information such as inundation plains, or lakes and reservoirs
  • Evaluation: contains layers on hydrological model performance and forecast skill (currently, only forecast skill is available)
  • Monitoring: provides a continuous global, systematic, and automated monitoring of all land surface areas possibly affected by flooding.
  • External WMS : where users can import new layers produced externally and available through the WMS standard

Each layer can be ordered or switched on and off, and the date of the displayed forecast can be selected using the date tool. By default GloFAS map viewer is set to the current date. Note that the earliest forecast available is for the pre-operational GloFAS system, 1st January 2011.
