On the webtool’s landing page, the user can select the monitoring of the Global Basic Observing Network (GBON) and, within this module, the monitoring data type (surface or upper-air observations). Then, the control menu allows to select the date, time, as well as the variable of interest, and a map will display the statistics corresponding to the selection. The tool offers several ways of zooming into the map to view the performance of a particular region or country: either by scrolling with the mouse wheel or by clicking on the zoom buttons on the map's upper right corner. Also, by selecting the full-screen toggle button, the map can be seen in full-screen mode. The ability to show or hide the legend by utilising the legend toggle on the map's upper right-hand side is another important feature. Additionally, it is possible to display on the map only the stations with certain performance levels by clicking onto each performance level (coloured dots) in the legend. Each of these can be disabled and made invisible on the map display. The WDQMS web tool provides a search function that allows to search for stations by name or WIGOS ID on all views. The top-left corner of the map's magnifying icon can be used to access it. A Download feature is also available, allowing the user to download a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file with a summary of the information seen on the map. This makes the data displayed on the map machine readable and exportable, thus enabling other systems to use the information in the WDQMS web tool. The Download feature is accessed in WDQMS maps through the “Download data” link in the bottom right-end corner underneath the map. All CSV files contain the list of GBON stations and their respective GBON monitoring statistics corresponding to the selection (i.e., data type, date, time interval and observed variable).
