We have recently determined that use of the sub-region extraction tool to select a sub-region of the EFAS domain results in erroneous data. This tool was introduced with the release of EFAS v4.4 on the 2022-06-20 (more information).

This issue affects all EFAS datasets in the Climate Data Store (CDS).

Any time-varying data (i.e. River discharge in the last 6 or 24 hours, snow depth water equivalent, and volumetric soil moisture) that has been downloaded using this tool is not located at the correct position on the river network when compared to the upstream area data. Therefore, data previously downloaded using the sub-setting tool should be disregarded and users should download the dataset of interest again over the full EFAS domain.

The sub-region extraction tool has been removed from the EFAS CDS catalogue entries while the issue is being fixed, and any area specified in CDS API requests will be ignored and the entire domain will be returned.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
