Why are green house gas concentrations (for example CO2) always shown as global - aren't there local concentration differences that affect the local temperature variability and deserve to be studied?

Or is it still difficult to model realistic CO2 concentration distributions that can be validated against observations?

GHG concentration is relatively homogeneous in space and the approximation of using a spatially constant value of GHG concentration is valid for models so far.
