UPDATE 02-FEB-2024: The ERA5 preliminary back extension is deprecated and no longer available.
We are pleased to inform you that the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) at ECMWF has released the complete set of the ERA5 back extension (BE) 1950-1978 (preliminary version) which include ERA5 BE on model levels and ERA5 BE on native grid.
Access to ERA5 BE complete data is through the CDS API only using 'reanalysis-era5-complete-preliminary-back-extension' as per our updated ERA5 complete data download guidelines. Our extensive ERA5 Documentation has also been updated.
