GPU usage on EWC
Overview: GPUs serve as a foundational element of European Weather Cloud (EWC), providing significant computational power for complex tasks. From simulations and data analysis to powering advanced machine learning models, GPUs generally offer more processing speed and efficiency comparing to CPUs. These capabilities make them ideal for handling the intensive workloads that come with processing large datasets, real-time data processing, and developing AI/ML models.
Key Features:
Performance: Leverage the parallel processing power of GPUs to accelerate computational tasks. This is essential for workloads that require the processing of large volumes of data or complex algorithms, significantly reducing the time.
Efficiency: GPUs are designed to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, offering an efficient solution compared to traditional CPUs for specific workloads.
Flexibility: Adapt to various computing needs with GPUs' versatile architecture. Whether it's for deep learning, 3D rendering, or scientific computing, GPUs can be tailored to enhance performance for a wide range of applications.
EWC provides GPU support both on EUMETSAT and ECMWF infrastructure. More information on how to provision GPU powered VM's and install necessery libraries, go to respective pages shown below:
