Notes

Presentation - Parameter sectionMatt
  • We started with the parameter discussion as Seb had to leave the meeting early.
After some discussion we arrived at the following: (NEW parameters are those which we will need to request from WMO as new parameters)
    • Net radiation: NEW (W/m2; perhaps 0/19/XX)
    • Soil drainage flux: We already have this using 2/0/52 + StatProcessing=1 (accumulation)
    • Height of mixed layer in lake: We already have this using 1/2/0 + FixedSurface=117 (Mixed layer depth)
    • Emissivity: NEW (Proportion; 2/0/XX or 0/0/XX)
    • Drag thermal coefficient: NEW (Numeric; 0/2/XX)
    • Drag evaporation coefficient: NEW (Numeric; 0/2/XX)
    • Soil wetness index: NEW (Numeric; 2/3/XX)
    • Canopy air temperature: NEW (K; 2/0/XX)
    • Urban canyon temperature: NEW (K; 2/6/XX)
    • Urban canyon humidity: NEW (kg/kg; 2/6/XX)
Presentation - demo sectionMatt
  • Matt presented how the tile template works, and the various keys which must be encoded and how this is done in Python.
    This was well received.
  • Trygve pointed out that one could add "ECOCLIMAP" (v1) as a land cover survey, and Matt agreed that there is no reason not to.

This essentially concludes preparation of the template and we will now submit this to WMO in the next fast track.

Søren and I will chat in the meantime to encode the output fully in GRIB2 with the data values and let you know if anything comes up.

Ulf will arrange a meeting early next week with Seb and I to discuss other parts of the portfolio.

Thank you everyone for your effort on this! (smile)
