We are pleased to announce that a new application has been published in the Climate Data Store (CDS):

Climate monitoring and volcanic eruptions

The purpose of this application is to explore the effects of volcanic eruptions on the Earth's climate. Major explosive volcanic eruptions can cause short-term effects on the climate thus contributing to natural climate variability on global and regional scales. These effects are often seen as signals in climate data which fade over a period of a couple of months to a few years from the time of the eruption, depending on the location of the volcano and the strength of the eruption. This application provides a quick look at the climate statistics and highlights the behaviour of these statistics in response to natural events such as volcanic eruptions.
