We would like to inform you that we have upgraded the CAMS global analyses and forecasts of CO2 and CH4 to the latest model cycle of ECMWF's Integrated Forecasting System (IFS). This new cycle, CY47R3, replaces the current CY46R1 cycle. Forecasts from both the current and the new cycle have been available in parallel since 13 October 2021, but we will discontinue CY47R1 by mid-November 2021.
The upgrade does not result in significant changes to the CO2 and CH4 concentrations and a full assessment can be found in the evaluation document , specifically in section 3.
Please note that as this upgrade contains a change to the encoding of all GRIB 2 parameters, a change of the “Master Tables Version Number” from 5 to 27, all users are encouraged to check their data processing with the test data provided.
