It is our pleasure to inform you that the “Arctic regional reanalysis on single levels from 1991 to present” CDS catalogue entry had been updated with 27 new variables (see at https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/cdsapp#!/dataset/reanalysis-carra-single-levels).

The list of new variables is as follows:

  •     2m specific humidity
  •     Total column cloud liquid water
  •     Total column cloud ice water
  •     Total column graupel
  •     Time integral of rain flux
  •     Time integral of total solid precipitation flux
  •     Precipitation type
  •     10m eastward wind gust since previous post-processing
  •     10m northward wind gust since previous post-processing
  •     10m wind gust since previous post-processing
  •     Time integral of snow evaporation flux
  •     Time integral of surface latent heat evaporation flux
  •     Time integral of surface latent heat sublimation flux
  •     Direct solar irradiation
  •     Surface net solar radiation, clear sky
  •     Surface net thermal radiation, clear sky
  •     Top net solar radiation
  •     Top net thermal radiation
  •     Time integral of surface eastward momentum flux
  •     Time integral of surface northward momentum flux
  •     Fog (lowest model level cloud)
  •     Fraction of snow cover
  •     Snow albedo
  •     Surface roughness length for heat
  •     Sea ice surface temperature
  •     Snow on ice total depth
  •     Volumetric soil ice

Please note that unfortunately there are some small gaps in the new dataset. This means 38 days missing for the CARRA-East and 44 days for the CARRA-West domain (less then 0.4% of the entire new data volume). More details on these gaps are at https://confluence.ecmwf.int/x/p3ltD#CopernicusArcticRegionalReanalysis(CARRA):knownissuesanduncertaintyinformation-Knownissues These gaps are planned to be covered in Q1 2023.
