A new operationally monitored production suite will replace the current pre-operational suite as provider of GFAS products on 03 July 2018. This change is transparent to CAMS GFAS users, but will provide an improved availability and timeless of GFAS products. Aligned with this system change, the following should be noted:
- The old MACC_GFAS directory on the ECMWF ECPDS ftp server (linked to experiment ID g6ek) will be discontinued (see Service change September 2017).
- Experiment g6ek will eventually be stopped and its data might not be archived in MARS after 03 July 2018.
- The CAMS_GFAS directory on the ECMWF ECPDS ftp server (linked to experiment ID 0001) will contain the following new files in grib and NetCDF format.
filename | param/name | Long Name | units |
---|---|---|---|
z_cams_c_ecmf_YYYYMMDD00_gfas_an_sfc_apb.nc | apb | Altitude of plume bottom | m |
z_cams_c_ecmf_YYYYMMDD00_gfas_an_sfc_apb.grib | 242.210 | Altitude of plume bottom | m |
z_cams_c_ecmf_YYYYMMDD00_gfas_an_sfc_injh.nc | injh | Injection height (from IS4FIRES) | m |
z_cams_c_ecmf_YYYYMMDD00_gfas_an_sfc_injh.grib | 60.210 | Injection height (from IS4FIRES) | m |
- "Injection height" (parameter 60.210) is only defined for ecCodes package, version 2.7.0. You will need this version of the package to decode a grib file containing this parameter.
- The cams-gfas web interface will show the additional parameters "Altitude of plume bottom" and "Injection height".
- All GFAS data will be archived under experiment ID 001 (class=MC) only and can be accessed using the WebAPI scripts.
More information about GFAS can be found on the documentation pages.
